Free Triathlon Bike Clinics
Bike Walk Indian River County is offering free clinics for children to improve bike riding safety and skills. We highly recommend this for all children!
The Hands-On Bike Clinic teaches kids a number of things according to their skill levels (which will be evaluated), such as how to ride a small oval course in both directions, how to ride without training wheels, how to gain more confidence in making a corner, swerving, stopping, and placing bicycle pedals in the power start position, as well as other safe or advanced cycling techniques such as how to mount and take off on their bike after finishing the swimming portion of the triathlon.

Need a Bike or Helmet?
There is a very limited supply of bikes that can be loaned out to Indian River County residents on a first-come first-served basis. Please exhaust all other options for borrowing a bike or helmet before requesting one.
If your child participates in an after-school youth program (such as GYAC, Boys & Girls Club, Float Hope, Crossover Mission, etc.), then you should also advise them of your child’s desire to register for the Rotary Kids Triathlon and their need for a bike.
To request a bike:
- You must be an Indian River County resident
- The child must be registered for the Rotary Kids Triathlon
- You must take the Bike Walk Indian River County Online Bike Safety Course with the parent/guardian and child present
- At the end of the Online Bike Safety Course, you will have an opportunity to sign-up to borrow a bike for the triathlon for your child and to indicate if you would like your child to participate in a FREE Hands-On Bike Clinic
[Note: Alan’s Bicycle Center has agreed to check the borrowed bikes and perform any necessary adjustments for safety and fit the day before Race Day and on Race Day]
The deadline to request a bike or helmet is November 1, 2025. No bikes will be assigned to any participants after November 1.
You will be contacted as soon as possible whether or not a bike is available for your child. Please be patient, as you WILL be contacted one way or the other. If a bike is unavailable due to a depletion of supply, you will be advised and we will refund your registration fee if your child is unable to participate.
To request a helmet:
The Indian River County Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) is graciously providing a limited number of helmets for athletes.
- Indicate that you do not have a helmet when you register your child for the Rotary Kids Triathlon
- Do your best to borrow a helmet before race day! (MPC has a limited supply, and helmets are required to race)
- Helmets will be available for pickup on Friday during Bike Check-In and Orientation
